    Save for later

The new year brings new hope for PGA Tour pros as they embark on the 2026 PGA Tour regular season, the promise of a career changing/defining victory awaiting each and every week. In chronicling each tournament, it's notable—and fun—to explore what equipment the pros used to capture victory. In this case here, we're specifically curious about what driver was put in play as it provides a window into how pros use modern equipment to squeeze out any advantage possible in the race to winning a title. Throughout the year, we'll track the different makes and models used by each tour winner. Nico Echavarria's victory at the Cognizant Classic gave Srixon its first win of 2026. TaylorMade holds the early lead for the season with three wins, followed by Ping with two and Callaway with one. Each week we'll provide a few details about the club and a key stat that provides some context on how the newly minted champion wound up in the winner's circle.

Nico Echavarria, Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches

    2264256987

    Mike Ehrmann

Driver: Srixon ZXi Diamond (Mitsubishi Diamana BB 73 TX), 9 degrees

Key driving stat: Echavarria wasn't perfect off the tee at PGA National, hitting only 55 percent of fairways on the week (ranking T-40), but he did register the fifth longest drive of the week with a 360-yard bullet on the 14th hole during the final round.

    Jacob Bridgeman, Genesis Invitational

    2263036836

    Mike Mulholland

Driver: TaylorMade Qi35 LS (HZRDUS Smoke Green 60X), 10.5 degrees

Key driving stat: Bridgeman was super steady off the tee en route to his first career PGA Tour title—and under some pretty nerve-wracking conditions down the stretch at Riviera. He finished T-11 in driving accuracy (62.5 percent) and T-13 in driving distance (301.8 yards). During Sunday's final round, he was even better, ranking T-2 and fourth in each category.

This compact but stout tour-inspired shape is built with an extremely forward center of gravity for the lowest spin. The LS targets higher-speed ball-strikers who are losing distance because of excess spin. Three weight ports in the sole allow users to dial in a fade or draw while maintaining low spin. The company’s carbon-fiber face remains the only one in the industry, and compared to the Qi10, this fourth generation features a thicker perimeter and thinner center for more consistent spring across a wider area. A redesigned slot in the sole improves the way the face flexes. Special markings embedded in the face of the clubfitting models help launch monitors track the head for more reliable data. Chromium-tinged carbon flows across the crown for greater weight savings, and a white line atop the face makes the face angle clear at address. MOI Rating: ABOVE AVERAGE Top 5 in Performance, low-handicaps 8, 9, 10.5 degrees (with a 12-way adjustable hosel)

Collin Morikawa, AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

    2261814291

    Orlando Ramirez

Driver: TaylorMade Qi4D LS (Mitsubishi Diamana WhiteBoard 63X), 8 degrees

Key driving stat: Finding the fairways is a particular premium at Pebble Beach, and Morikawa managed that quite well, finishing the tournament T-4 in driving accuracy (76.7 percent, 43 of 56) en route to winning his first PGA Tour title since October 2023.

This compact model (although still 460cc) is built for low spin through its lower, more forward center of gravity and increased speed through enhanced aerodynamic shaping. Those aerodynamic improvements include softening where the top of the face and the start of the crown meet, as well as tucking the rear weight port within the rear perimeter. Two adjustable sole weights (15 and four grams) can be flipped between front and back to reduce spin, increase stability, or change trajectory. An updated design of the slot in the sole (thinner in the middle and wider at the heel and toe) improves the way the lower portion of the face flexes compared to the Qi35. A new shaft-fitting algorithm, based on 11 million shots captured during the past two decades, analyzes the rate a golfer closes the face coming into impact and then matches that tendency to one of three shaft profiles to improve center-face contact. The composite face maximizes deflection on center and off-center locations thanks to a new variable-thickness pattern arranged through 60 layers of carbon composite. Part of that new face design also includes added face curvature from the crown to the sole to produce more consistent speed, spin and launch on mis-hits. Top 5 in Look, low-handicaps MOI rating: Moderate 8, 9, 10.5 degrees (with a 12-way adjustable hosel)

    Chris Gotterup, WM Phoenix Open

    2260076183

    Justin Edmonds

Driver: Ping G440 LST (HZRDUS Smoke Black 70), 7.5 degrees

Key driving stat: As was the case during his victory in Hawaii in January, Gotterup was impressive with his driving all week at TPC Scottsdale. He ranked seventh in SG/off the tee (+4.042) and fourth in the field in distance with a 332.2-yard average.

The LST is for players with faster swings who are looking to reduce spin, and it still maintains one of the highest ratings for stability on off-center hits. Allows faster swings to maintain ball speed without unwanted increases in trajectory or spin. A carbon-composite piece wraps into the back half of the crown to save mass that is repositioned low and forward of the other G440 models. A 29-gram adjustable weight in the rear perimeter fits into neutral, draw or fade positions. A redesigned interior portion of the hosel creates room for that area of the face to flex better while lowering the center of gravity. The head has a flatter lie angle than the G440 Max to reduce draw bias. The titanium-alloy face is thinner and more flexible to optimize ball speed across a broader area. The stock-length shaft is stretched to 46 inches to create more potential swing speed. MOI Rating: HIGH Top 5 in Performance, low- and high-handicaps 9, 10.5 degrees (with an eight-way adjustable hosel)

    Justin Rose, Farmers Insurance Open

    2259458810

    Orlando Ramirez

Driver: Callaway Paradym Ai Smoke Triple Diamond Max, Mitsubishi Diamana WB 63 TX, 8.5 degrees

Key driving stat: His strokes gained/off the tee number for the week only ranked 21st, but he was 10th during the third round, the day he distanced himself from the field at Torrey Pines and turned 13th career PGA Tour victory into a runaway.

    Scottie Scheffler, The American Express

    2258029673

    Eric Brown Jr./ISI Photos

Driver: TaylorMade Qi10 (Fujikura Ventus Black 7X), 8 degrees

Key driving stat: Scheffler has finished either first or second on strokes gained/off the tee in each of the last three years, so it's no surprise that he was among the leaders at The American Express en route to victory, finishing fourth on the week (+2.877).

Among the improvements here—beyond better overall stability on mis-hits on the heel and toe and high and low—is the increased use of carbon composite in the crown. Now stretching almost seamlessly to the top of the face, the crown saves weight to help increase stability on off-center hits and to lower the center of gravity for reduced spin and better energy transfer. The structure of the channel in the sole now gives more at impact to deliver extra flex to the face for faster ball speed, particularly on lower hits on the face.

    Cliff Hawkins

Driver: Ping G440 LST (HZRDUS Smoke Black 70), 7.5 degrees

Key driving stat: In grabbing his third career PGA Tour title, Gotterup was more than solid off the tee, finishing first in SG: off the tee for the week (+4.352). He was helped by being ninth in the field in distance with a 319.70 yard average.
