    Why We Like It

    • TaylorMade’s latest wedge line is fully forged, a first for the Milled Grind line and a decision made as a result of its tour staff’s request for more feel.
    • The wedge is the first in the line to use saw-milled grooves, which were created using a new machining process that tightens tolerances and allows engineers to push groove geometry. The grooves have steeper walls and sharper edges for maximum grab—especially on partial shots.
    • The raw face features a tread design between the grooves to channel away moisture like a set of all-weather tires. This produces 13 percent more spin from damp conditions, according to the company.
    • The line has six grinds, including the TW grind based off Tiger Woods’ setup. That grind has more camber and less heel relief in the 60-degree lob wedge.
    • Top 5 in Performance, high-handicaps
    • SPECS: 23 options (46-60 degrees), 6 sole grinds, 2 finishes

    COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List panelists observed the milled face and compact head give an instantly sharp, control-oriented look and deliver repeatable spin and carry. Testers praised the silky, soft feel, superb turf interaction and balance that makes swings highly repeatable. Sand play stood out—spin in bunkers was “like throwing darts”—and the sole lets you vary trajectory and shot height around greens. Heavier mass aids shaping and stability. One drawback: a notably small sweet spot that punishes off-center strikes.

    COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List panelists observed intricate milling and a face that "lights up" in sun, projecting instant control and spin. Full swings produced consistent spin and carry with smooth, well‑weighted turf entry. Greenside versatility impressed — opens/closes, handles tight lies and over‑bunker nippers, and delivers strong, reliable spin; bunker play was dependable once committed. Firmer, crisp feel provides clear feedback. One downside: steep players may notice slight digging on full shots.

    COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List panelists observed a compact, milled-head wedge with a clean look and a sole that effectively removes turf as a factor, enabling creative greenside play. Exceptional balance and a silky-soft feel deliver repeatable swings, tight dispersion, high-launching full shots that land softly, and standout sand and greenside spin—balls often stop where they land. Heavier than average, it also makes shaping longer shots easier. One caveat: thin strikes are notably penalized.

    COMMENT SUMMARY

Hot List testers noted a truly versatile wedge that excels from full shots to sand, lobs and pitches. Once properly fit for bounce and sole it generates effortless spin and reliable check; a thinner sole makes trajectory and spin easy to vary. Full swings feel soft and controlled, short chips and bump-and-runs respond predictably, and a seasoned faded finish looks great. One caveat: forgiveness is limited—off-center hits reveal a small sweet spot.
